Halloween in Mexico is a day of happiness, remembrance and celebrations, marked with picnics, candles, bonfires and fireworks. So, this month at Discovery, we’ve dreamed up some spooky serving suggestions and recipes for quick and easy Mexican party food: ghoulish snacks and spine-tingling suppers, a treat for kids and grownups to share.
1. Finger wraps - Use finger-length fish fingers or chicken goujons with lashings of ketchup to make a deliciously gory “hand-wich”. Spread tomato ketchup evenly over the whole wrapbread, select your filling and wrap it up. Tip: Go steady on the filling for easy folding!
2. Eyeball sandwiches – Tightly Wrap up black olives, cherry tomatoes and strips of pepper, in a wrapbread, roll, chill and cut into thin slices and arrange on the plate like bloodshot eyeballs. Or use a Halloween pastry cutter to make mini scary shaped sandwiches.
3. Terrifying Tortillas - Decorate your Halloween Mexican Quesadillas with ghostly faces using our range of squeezy toppings to decorate them. What about a Green Guacamole monsters with salsa bloodshot eyes and soured cream fangs?
4. Chillingly Cheesy Tortilla Chips - Decorate a bowl of cheesy nachos with tomatoes for eyes, peppers for horns & sweetcorn for teeth.
5. Finger-crunching Fajita Soup - Fajita Soup will warm you up but watch out for the ––tortilla fingers! Roll up a tortilla, cut it into finger length pieces and dip the tips with guacamole.
